Demonstrations
Green Woodwork Ireland displays the showcase of a traditional woodland workshop in action. Step back in time and immerse yourself in the skills of the craftsman producing his wares, with the use of the shave horse and pole lathe. Children’s toys, spoons, bowls and furniture are all produced using traditional techniques dating back hundreds of years. People of all ages are captivated by the rhythm of pole lathe and a craft that has long since disappeared from our woodlands and workshops. Adults and children alike can enjoy the work of the craftsman as he talks about the skills and history of this forgotten world. Event Workshops
Green Woodwork Ireland facilitates several have a go, workshops that have been structured to run as part of a larger event, such as craft fairs, family fun days, game fairs, community festivals and heritage days. Workshops on offer are Have a go at Woodturning, Have a go on the Shavehorse, making magic wands and toy swords and Have a go at Woodcarving, carving a sign for your event or organisation. These workshops are suitable for people of all ages and can be run on a drop-in basis, great for families, couples and individuals and are perfect for young teenagers when other activities are more suited to young children. If you would like more information, a quotation or would like to make a booking please feel free to get in touch.
Festivals
At Green Woodwork Ireland its not about all work and no play. Each summer we like to pack up the gear and head off to one of the many festivals on offer, travelling as far afield as Glastonbury, as well as events closer to home, such as Irelands biggest festival, Electric Picnic, or smaller festivals like Sunflower Fest. We offer 1 1/2hr workshops, in pole lathe turning, making items such as rolling pins, garden dibbers, potato mashers, toy swords and rounder’s bats. We also facilitate 1/2hr workshops making magic wands, toy swords, walking sticks and staffs, on the shavehorse.
